Sakya Dokho Choling, founded by Tulku  Nyima Gyaltsen Rinpoche in 2003, is a center for study and practice in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. The center offers teachings and practices in the Longchen Nyingthik tradition. Our weekly practice sessions consists of the Longchen Nyingthig Ngondro and the Guru Rinpoche Tsok practice, which alternate every week.

Our primary teacher is Tulku Nyima Gyaltsen Rinpoche, the founder of this center, who is considered the speech emanation of one of the greatest Nyingmapa Masters of the previous century, Khenpo Ngawang Palzang (a.k.a Khenpo Ngakchung).

Tulku Nyima Gyaltsen Rinpoche has also been recognized as a “genuine reincarnate lama of the Sakya tradition” by His Holiness Sakya Trizin.  Visiting teachers at the center have included Lhoppon Rechungpa of the Mipham Shedra, and Traga Rinpoche of the Garchen Institute. H.E. Garchen Rinpoche has visited the center to bestow his blessings, and the center has been graced by a brief visit by Alak Zenkar Rinpoche, a close friend to Tulku Nyima Gyaltsen Rinpoche.

Weekly practice sessions are usually held at the Center (in Germantown, MD), or an alternate location in Washington, D.C. You may sign up to receive an announcement of practice sessions or teaching events at sakya_dokho_choling@yahoo.com.   Sakya Dokho Choling has a small library of books in Chinese and English languages, and audio and video material that can be checked out. The two primary books we use as reference are:

The Words of My Perfect Teacher, by Patrul Rinpoche, translated by Padmakara Translation Group

A Guide to The Words of My Perfect Teacher, by Khenpo Ngawang Pelzang (Khenpo Ngakchung), Translated by Dipamkara with the Padmakara Translation
